Ray A Sumairsingh, sector head of Automotive at ANSA McAL Ltd, is the new chairman of the T&T Stock Exchange (TTSE). He was elected at a board of directors meeting following the annual meeting of the TTSE and replaces Peter Clarke who served in the post for the past two years. Sumairsingh has been a director of the TTSE for just over 13 years.
The new TTSE deputy chairman is Ian Narine and Anton Gopaulsingh was elected a director. Directors A McEachrane, who served on the TTSE board for 29 years, and Terrance Chang, who served 11 years, did not seek re-election.
The other members of the new TTSE board are Godfrey Gosein, Alvin Johnson, Donna-Marie Johnson, Peter Clarke, Michael Phillip. Ranjit Jeewan, Subhas Ramkhelawan and Peter Inglefield.
The new TTSE chairman, who once served as the head for Financial Services in the ANSA McAL Group, has more than 38 years of executive experience in banking and insurance, having worked on Wall Street, as well as in the city of London. He served as President of The Insurance Association of the Caribbean (IAC), Association of T&T Insurance Companies (ATTIC). He serves as Chairman at Brydens Insurance Inc.
Sumairsingh currently serves as deputy chairman of Ansa Merchant Bank Limited and as a director of ANSA McAL Limited. He is also a director on the boards of TATIL, TATIL Life Assurance Limited and Consolidated Finance Limited (Barbados), IAC, ATTIC and the Unit Trust Corporation
He holds an MBA (Finance), and is an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB).
