Ray A Sumairs­ingh, sec­tor head of Au­to­mo­tive at ANSA McAL Ltd, is the new chair­man of the T&T Stock Ex­change (TTSE). He was elect­ed at a board of di­rec­tors meet­ing fol­low­ing the an­nu­al meet­ing of the TTSE and re­places Pe­ter Clarke who served in the post for the past two years. Sumairs­ingh has been a di­rec­tor of the TTSE for just over 13 years.

The new TTSE deputy chair­man is Ian Nar­ine and An­ton Gopauls­ingh was elect­ed a di­rec­tor. Di­rec­tors A McEachrane, who served on the TTSE board for 29 years, and Ter­rance Chang, who served 11 years, did not seek re-elec­tion.

The oth­er mem­bers of the new TTSE board are God­frey Go­sein, Alvin John­son, Don­na-Marie John­son, Pe­ter Clarke, Michael Phillip. Ran­jit Jee­wan, Sub­has Ramkhelawan and Pe­ter In­gle­field.

The new TTSE chair­man, who once served as the head for Fi­nan­cial Ser­vices in the ANSA McAL Group, has more than 38 years of ex­ec­u­tive ex­pe­ri­ence in bank­ing and in­sur­ance, hav­ing worked on Wall Street, as well as in the city of Lon­don. He served as Pres­i­dent of The In­sur­ance As­so­ci­a­tion of the Caribbean (IAC), As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T In­sur­ance Com­pa­nies (AT­TIC). He serves as Chair­man at Bry­dens In­sur­ance Inc.

Sumairs­ingh cur­rent­ly serves as deputy chair­man of Ansa Mer­chant Bank Lim­it­ed and as a di­rec­tor of ANSA McAL Lim­it­ed. He is al­so a di­rec­tor on the boards of TATIL, TATIL Life As­sur­ance Lim­it­ed and Con­sol­i­dat­ed Fi­nance Lim­it­ed (Bar­ba­dos), IAC, AT­TIC and the Unit Trust Cor­po­ra­tion

He holds an MBA (Fi­nance), and is an as­so­ciate of the Char­tered In­sti­tute of Bankers (ACIB).
