Yesterday, Microsoft TT joined other organisations and individuals around the globe to celebrate World Environment Day (WED).
In recognition of this year's WED theme, Seven Billion Dreams. "One Planet. Consume with Care", Microsoft TT demonstrated the organisation's commitment to conservation efforts through a telecommuting initiative, which allows all employees to work remotely from their home on that day using Office 365. Microsoft employees continued to be productive with the new Office as it provides access to their applications, including email, calendar, video conferencing, enterprise social networking and most up-to-date documents, all optimised to give them the best experience across their devices–from PCs to smartphones to tablets.
Connectivity was maintained through new tools such as Skype for Business, and with enterprise social networking, employees followed their colleagues, documents and discussions with updates delivered to their newsfeed. A site mailbox brought Exchange emails and SharePoint documents together, to keep all team communications and documents in sync.
"Microsoft is committed to making a real impact for a better tomorrow, not only around the world but also here in Trinidad and Tobago," said Frances Correia, country manager, Microsoft T&T, Eastern and Southern Caribbean. The Adult Literacy Tutors Organisation (ALTA) joined Microsoft TT by participating in the initiative, which has been endorsed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Through the use of Skype for Business, employees at ALTA remained connected as the tool allowed individuals to meet and collaborate with up to 250 colleagues or clients from any device.
