Former T&T national netballer Angela Burke-Browne passed away after losing a long battle with cancer on Tuesday.
Burke-Brown, who made her national debut at age 15 at the West Indies Championships in St Lucia represented the Calypso Girls team that participated in three World Netball Championships 1971, 1975 and most memorable in 1979 here in T&T which saw the host victorious, was 59.
She was awarded the Chaconia Gold Medal for her efforts during T&T's success at the 1979 World Championships, as well as being inducted into the Sport Hall of Fame as a member of the team in 2014.
Burke-Browne represented T&T in the long and high jump categories at the first Carifta Games in Barbados.
She also played basketball as a member of the national team from 1970-1982, captaining them in 1975 and was a nominee for the WITCO Sportswoman of the year award for basketball for three years straight.
