The Art So­ci­ety of T&T (ASTT) will host an ex­hi­bi­tion to mark its 70th an­niver­sary.

The show will open on No­vem­ber 15, at 6 pm, at the So­ci­ety's head­quar­ters on Ja­maica Blvd and St Vin­cent Av­enue, Fed­er­a­tion Park and will fea­ture a di­verse range of cre­ative works in­clud­ing pho­tographs, paint­ings, draw­ings, ce­ram­ics, sculp­ture and dig­i­tal art.

The ASTT has held an an­nu­al No­vem­ber Mem­bers' Group ex­hi­bi­tion for many years. This year's event throws a spot­light on the ASTT as the old­est vi­su­al arts or­gan­i­sa­tion in the coun­try. Vis­i­tors to the ex­hib­it can ex­pect to see a se­lec­tion of work by the Art So­ci­ety's cur­rent mem­bers. One fo­cal point will be the an­niver­sary wall up­on which 70 square can­vas pan­els–each paint­ed by mem­bers of the ASTT–will be pre­sent­ed as a huge in­stal­la­tion. Each pan­el will be priced at $1,000 in an ef­fort to en­cour­age first-time buy­ers.

The Art So­ci­ety sees its 70th an­niver­sary as a fit­ting oc­ca­sion for ac­knowl­edg­ing the work of T&T's vi­su­al arts icons, a re­lease from the or­gan­i­sa­tion said.

As such, an­oth­er key as­pect of the show will be the dis­play of art by Carlisle Chang and oth­er se­nior, lead­ing artists–many of whom have guid­ed the ef­forts of the ASTT.

The ASTT re­minds mem­bers that the sub­mis­sion dates for art­works are Oc­to­ber 30 � No­vem­ber 1, from 10 am to 5 pm. As prepa­ra­tions con­tin­ue, the ASTT wel­comes fi­nan­cial sup­port from the busi­ness com­mu­ni­ty to help with the cost of mak­ing the event a spe­cial one.

The 70th an­niver­sary ex­hi­bi­tion runs un­til No­vem­ber 30.

Schools are in­vit­ed to make an ap­point­ment to bring their art class­es.
