T&T, Miami battle for Bago Beach football title

T&T's beach foot­ball team and Mi­a­mi Soc­cer Lock­er qual­i­fied for the fi­nal of the fourth an­nu­al Bago Beach Foot­ball Tour­na­ment at the Black Rock Her­itage Park Beach, Cour­land in To­ba­go which was sched­uled for late yes­ter­day. T&T qual­i­fied af­ter whip­ping Re­al Uni­ty by 8-3 in the first semi­fi­nals ear­li­er in the day. T&T and Mi­a­mi was con­test­ing for the US $15,000 first prize.

Do­minic Mc Dougall led the way for T&T with a hat trick. For­mer na­tion­al de­fend­er Makan His­lop, Chad Apoo, Shal­lum Bobb and Ker­win Stafford al­so got on the score­sheet for T&T while Anslem Paul's own goal as­sist­ed the win­ner.

For Re­al Uni­ty, Dil­lon Go­ordeen and Nigel Ed­mund found the back of the net. Mi­a­mi had a tougher fight in the sec­ond semi­fi­nals against Whim Sand Strik­ers pre­vail­ing 6-3. Ke­shawn Joseph's scored a dou­ble with Ron Fiedtk­ou, Wayne Wat­son, Rob­bie Ger­art and goal keep­er Al­do Bal­sano all find­ing the back of the net. Whim lost two keep­ers to in­jury.

T&T ad­vanced to semi­fi­nals af­ter top­ping play in Group A with two wins and a de­feat to fin­ish on six points. Mc Dougall and His­lop lead the team's scor­ing.

Black Rock missed out on qual­i­fy­ing af­ter fin­ish­ing on six points but a mi­nus one goal dif­fer­ence end­ed their chance of qual­i­fy­ing for the fi­nal four.

Switzer­land's Baze­land Charg­ers fin­ished at the bot­tom of the ta­ble los­ing all three match­es. Mi­a­mi was sec­ond be­hind T&T with a sim­i­lar two wins/one lost record but had an in­fe­ri­or goal dif­fer­ence to T&T.

Re­al Uni­ty pre­vailed in Group B edg­ing Whim as both teams end­ed on six points (two wins/one loss). HV Mi­lan was third on five points ahead of Eng­land's So­lent San­tos who lost all match­es.
