Known as one of south's most energetic J'Ouvert bands, Undercover Promotions is set to flood the streets of San Fernando with black and white, with its 2011 presentation, Them Crazy 4 Cars. Over the years, the band, which boasts of being one of the biggest in south, has placed in the top three as the city's best over the past decade. Last Friday hundreds of people gathered outside the Cocoyea Supermarket as the band launched in fine style with several top-notch soca performances. Soca star Farmer Nappy had the crowd in a frenzy with sensational performances of his 2011 and 2012 tunes. Rendering the song Surrender, the farmer had patrons wining uncontrollably, while he informed patrons that this year's Soca Monarch title was going to be his. Adding to the fun was General Grant, who belted out long-time hits such as The Shot Call. Cocoyea's local artistes and soca stars in their own right, Dev and Klassy had supporters jumping and waving with their catchy 2012 ditty, Drinking Partner.
Following the performances, the sexy chequered outfits for Carnival Monday morning were unleashed.
Committee member Anthony Gumbs said the concept of this year's presentation stemmed from the country's current state of affairs. He said everything seemed to be in black and white, and citizens were confused. This, he said, was the reason for the theme Them Crazy 4 Cars. The band boasts of tight security, a well-stocked bar before hitting the street on J'Ouvert morning and two 40-foot music trucks. Music will be provided by Yung Gunz International and Scorpion Songs. Gumbs promised masqueraders a great time.
