Former national cricketer and footballer Lance Murray peacefully passed away on Sunday at his Westmoorings home at the age of 91. Lance's son, former West Indies wicketkeeper Deryck Murray said his father was bed-ridden for the past year but was comfortable and in his words :"Probably his time had come."
Murray was a leg-spinner and also a centre half on the football field. He also had numerous stints in sporting administration as well, and served on the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). For his efforts, he was presented with the Chaconia Gold Medal for sporting administration.
He also got the Medal of Merit (MOM) for public service. Lance was the father of seven children Deryck, Karen, Ronald, Clifford, Dawn, Patrice and Solange. His funeral service takes place Friday at the All Saints Church, Queen's Park Savannah at noon.
