Thou­sands turned up at the Dig­i­cel-spon­sored Cur­ry Duck Com­pe­ti­tion in Ma­yaro on Sun­day to sup­port the 26 teams who were vy­ing for the best cur­ried duck and pep­per roti ti­tle. The event at the Ma­yaro Recre­ation­al Ground was at­tend­ed by Min­is­ter of Mul­ti­cul­tur­al­ism and MP for Ma­yaro, Win­ston Gyp­sy Pe­ters.

The Rio Claro Pow­er Sauce Crew took first place. The Duck Sol­diers Crew placed sec­ond, while the White Oak Chul­ha Kings, the Ram­lakhan Rice Millers Duck Cur­ry Crew and the Del­hi Duck­ers of In­dia round­ed out the top five.

The pep­per roti con­test was won by D Wa­ter­ing Hole. The Duck Sol­diers Crew placed sec­ond once more, and D Lashin' La­goon Duck Crew was third. The Cre­ative Duck Crew had the Most Orig­i­nal Stove, while Cur­ry Duck cham­pi­ons, Rio Claro Pow­er Sauce Crew, al­so took home the award for Best Pre­sen­ta­tion.

Dig­i­cel, event spon­sor for five years, pre­sent­ed the top teams with 22 ham­pers. The event was host­ed by a ra­dio sta­tion.
