The Trinidad and To­ba­go chess com­mu­ni­ty mourns the pass­ing of Ce­cil Lee Trinidad ‘s first chess Mas­ter And three time na­tion­al cham­pi­on. Lee passed away on Tues­day af­ter a short ill­ness. He was 81 years of age. Lee won the na­tion­al cham­pi­onships in 1978 and 1984 And was run­ner up at least on four oc­ca­sions. Lee earned his mas­ters qual­i­fi­ca­tion when he per­formed cred­itably at the U.S. Open tour­na­ment Mas­ters di­vi­sion where in 12 games of chess he on­ly lost once. He won five games and drew 6. He was the chess as­so­ci­a­tion nom­i­nee for sports­man of the year on two oc­ca­sions. Ce­cil leaves to mourn his three sons Clay­ton, Adri­an and Richard Lee. He al­so has three grand­chil­dren and two broth­ers Ivan and Reynold Lee.
