Fashion is the heartbeat, but performance is the pulse of Ewa Afrika ... Conscious Threads—an electric celebration of African heritage and Caribbean resilience on June 1 at the Winifred Atwell Auditorium, Queen’s Hall, St Ann’s.
The fashion extravaganza promises to be an unforgettable sensory journey as some of the region’s most powerful performers command the stage.
The iconic 3Canal, with their signature call-to-action rhythm and piercing political poetry; the fearless and fiery Terri Lyons, whose vocals stir hearts and awaken spirits; the spellbinding Naomi Abiola, weaving ancestral memory through dramatic storytelling; and the kinetic genius of Deon Baptiste, whose choreography embodies resistance, joy, and rhythm of the people.
“Together, they don’t just entertain, they provoke reflection, ignite pride, and call us to unity,” the release stated.
“These performers are more than acts, they are living conduits of heritage and identity. Their art breathes life into the threads we wear and the stories we tell.”
This production builds on the energy of the successful Conscious Threads Master Class and culminates in a night where movement, music, and meaning dance in one unified rhythm.
The production is a two-part occasion, encouraging dynamic retail therapy from 4 pm to 5 pm, as well as from 7 pm to 8 pm. Audiences will be drawn to the artisanal fashion and captivated by the performances.
“This is the fourth Ewa Afrika production we have done, and each year I am invigorated by the storytelling genius of Richard Young executed so brilliantly by Abeo Jackson and Conrad Parris,” said Zakiya Uzoma-Wadada, the executive director of the Emancipation Support Committee of Trinidad and Tobago.
“Experience the power of culture—live, urgent, and unforgettable!
