The Police Service Commission has nominated Allister Guevarro to be appointed as Commissioner of Police, and Wayne Mystar to act as Deputy Commissioner.
This is according to the latest Order Paper of Parliament, obtained by CNC3. The President issued the official notification for Guevarro’s appointment on May 9th, 2025. Mystar’s notification to act as Deputy Commissioner was issued on June 3rd. Both appointments require the approval of the House of Representatives.
Allister Guevarro has served in the Police Service for over two decades, with key assignments in the Special Branch and investigative leadership roles. In 2010, he headed a high-profile investigation into how a box of confidential Supreme Court documents ended up in a private law office. At the time, he held the rank of Inspector. More recently, in 2022, he was part of the committee appointed to probe the nationwide blackout, representing the Special Branch. He currently holds the rank of Assistant Commissioner.
Wayne Mystar, also an Assistant Commissioner, has held a broad range of operational and public-facing roles. He gained national visibility during the 2011 State of Emergency, serving as police public information officer and head of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch. He later led the Mounted Branch and served in the Northern, Central, and Southern Divisions. Most recently, Mystar led public trust and community initiatives, including the launch of a crime tip hotline and targeted patrols to address domestic violence and gang activity.
The motions to confirm both appointments were submitted under Government Business by the Minister of Homeland Security.
