Do you like air­planes? Does the idea of fly­ing ex­cite you? Or do you sim­ply mar­vel at the in­ge­nu­ity of an air­craft?

Well, Sa­van­nah Aero Con­cepts TT (SACTT) is invit­ing you to join them at the Mike De Fre­itas RC Field in Fred­er­ick Set­tle­ment, Ca­roni, for their “In­tro­duc­tion to Fly­ing Ra­dio Con­trolled Air­planes” ses­sion to­day from 2-6 pm to ex­pe­ri­ence the flight of ra­dio-con­trolled (RC) air­planes and he­li­copters to drones con­trol—line and free flight mod­els—of­fer­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties to ex­plore aero­dy­nam­ics, en­gi­neer­ing, and pre­ci­sion fly­ing.

SACTT sec­re­tary Chris­t­ian Chacha says it is more than a fly­ing club. “It’s a warm, sup­port­ive com­mu­ni­ty. Part­ner­ships with schools such as Fa­ti­ma Col­lege’s Avi­a­tion Club in­spire youth through STEM (Sci­ence, Tech­nol­o­gy, En­gi­neer­ing and Math­e­mat­ics) ed­u­ca­tion, and reg­u­lar meet-ups bring to­geth­er en­thu­si­asts of all ages.”

SACTT is a Trinidad and To­ba­go Civ­il Avi­a­tion Au­thor­i­ty (TTCAA)-ap­proved fa­cil­i­ty that plays a role in in­tro­duc­ing young peo­ple to op­por­tu­ni­ties with­in the avi­a­tion in­dus­try. While many per­ceive the non-prof­it or­gan­i­sa­tion as a hob­by­ist group, it goes be­yond leisure, serv­ing as an ed­u­ca­tion­al plat­form that in­spires and pre­pares the next gen­er­a­tion of pi­lots, en­gi­neers, and avi­a­tion pro­fes­sion­als.

He added: “It’s ide­al for new­com­ers of all ages. The In­tro­duc­tion to Fly­ing RC Air­planes ses­sion of­fers a per­fect en­try point in­to a re­ward­ing hob­by that can grow in­to a life­long pas­sion.”

The event of­fers at­ten­dees prac­ti­cal fly­ing ex­pe­ri­ence in a safe, con­trolled en­vi­ron­ment. The ses­sion al­so fea­tures demon­stra­tions of var­i­ous mod­el air­craft types—from sta­ble train­er planes to aer­o­bat­ic mod­els—of­fer­ing in­sight in­to the va­ri­ety and ca­pa­bil­i­ties of the hob­by.

There will al­so be op­por­tu­ni­ties to in­ter­act with peo­ple in the avi­a­tion in­dus­try for any­one who de­sires to learn from ac­tu­al pi­lots, en­gi­neers and oth­er pro­fes­sion­als in the in­dus­try.

The ses­sion al­so in­tro­duces the tech­nol­o­gy, crafts­man­ship, and aero­dy­nam­ics be­hind RC fly­ing.

“Fly­ing RC air­planes is an ex­cit­ing hob­by that of­fers some­thing for every­one—whether you’re chas­ing ad­ven­ture, spend­ing qual­i­ty time with fam­i­ly, or ea­ger to learn some­thing new. It’s a chance to get out­doors, en­joy the fun of flight, and cre­ate un­for­get­table mem­o­ries to­geth­er,” says Chacha.
