Al­ta’s sig­na­ture event, Read­ings Un­der the Trees, re­turned last Sat­ur­day (March 18) af­ter a three-year hia­tus.

The Botan­ic Gar­dens in Port-of-Spain bloomed with es­tab­lished lo­cal au­thors shar­ing the stage with emer­gent read­ers, all for the joy of read­ing.

The pause in the event has not ham­pered its growth, as Read­ings Un­der the Trees con­tin­ues to draw larg­er au­di­ences with each in­stal­ment.

A ma­jor event high­light was the in­spir­ing pieces writ­ten and de­liv­ered by Al­ta stu­dents on the theme, “I am Skilled.”

The Kids’ Tree had scores of young­sters lis­ten­ing in­tent­ly to chil­dren’s lit­er­a­ture, with fun and en­gag­ing read­ing ac­tiv­i­ties for va­ri­ety.

Al­ta thanks the au­thors, stu­dents and vol­un­teers who con­tin­ue to make Read­ings Un­der the Trees a suc­cess. On to next year!
