Louis and the Lynx, led by Dr Louis Nurse, has been part of T&T’s entertainment industry since 1975. To mark their golden milestone this year, the band will present Timeless, an immersive concert of jazz, soca, youth and love at the Central Bank Auditorium tomorrow at 8 pm.
Timeless features young musicians Kadija Jeremiah, Sherisse Collymore, Wayne Waldron, Richard Nurse (cuatrista), A Jay St Louis (jazz saxophonist) and Justin Phillip (trombonist), with a full orchestra that includes drummer Claude Griffith, bassist Joel Wiggins, percussionist Tamba Gwindi and Dr Nurse on keys.
Nurse’s soca jazz compositions, including Dancing in the Rain, Happiness, and Ooooops, as well as orchestra pieces Attention, Marie, and Power of the Word, will be featured.
Richard Nurse will present a solo cuatro recital with vocalists performing popular selections.
The soca set will collaboratively exhibit saxophone, trumpet and piano, rendering jazz versions of Good Good Spirit, Coco Tea and other popular tunes.
The concert will benefit the St George West County 4H Club, a group dedicated to promoting agricultural skills in schools as part of an overall strategy to improve food security in T&T.
“This family event offers an opportunity for patrons to enjoy fellowship and fun in the secure quality environment which is offered at the intimate space,” Nurse said.
He said Timeless was inspired by his musical vocation and his love for people.
“It’s an evening where the spirit will become immersed in love, and where any given person could meet their future life partner,” he explained.
