The Astor Johnson Repertory Dance Theatre celebrated International Dance Day on April 27 with Friends in Dance at the Little Carib Theatre, Port-of-Spain.

Since 2023, the dance company has used the occasion to stage special dance productions.

The first was held in honour of Beryl McBurnie and Astor Johnson, as well as to celebrate the Little Carib Theatre’s 75th anniversary.

Last year’s production featured a suite of signature pieces from Astor’s repertoire.

This year, Friends in Dance included performances by the North West Laventille Cultural Movement and the Ibis T&T Performing Company. Students from The UWI, Princes Town East Secondary, Tranquility Secondary and Diego Martin Central Secondary were featured in performances coordinated by members of the Secondary Schools Dance Educators Association of T&T.
