October 21-23, is scheduled for the FAB Passion Fashion Week in New England, USA. This year marks the third edition of this fashion week produced by Trinidad-born New England resident, Richie Richardson. This premier fashion week is dedicated to three days of international, local and regional fashion.

FAB Passion Fashion Week (FPFW) creates unique opportunities for cross-cultural exchange
and new relationships between fashion professionals at the local, regional, and international level. The Honourable Andre La Veau, Consul General of Trinidad and Tobago in New York endorses the initiative and has facilitated networking linkages to fortify the integrity of the event.

Richie Richardson is a fashion/graphic designer who is pushing the agenda of ethnic, contemporary fashion which promotes cross pollination of contemporary and roots genres in fashion, quite synonymous to the worldbeat music influence taking the world by storm. He has teamed up with Richard Young, the Caribbean aesthetic aficionado and regional fashion guru, serving as creative director and Jerry Jordan, the producer of Brooklyn Fashion Week, as casting director, to create this addition to the New England tourism lure.

CAFD student of the Year showcasing
The designers from Trinidad slated to present are The Cloth, Zadd and Eastman, ID Indigenous Designs by Dominique La Roche, Elizabeth Francis’ Christique Clothing, Kavir Mootoo’s recycled wearable art and this year’s student of the year at the Caribbean Academy of Fashion Design (CAFD), at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, Cournelius Hector.
Richard Young who would be showcasing the 6 brands from Trinidad, this year, speaks glowingly of the event. In 2018 and 2019, “we showed collections from Caribbean designers resident in New York and New England as well as exotic brands from the African continent as well as from other Caribbean islands.”
FAB Passion Fashion Week also incorporates indigenous performances from Native American organization RiverCulture and an upcycle showcase as part of a celebration of alternative, sustainable fashion practice.
