David Camp­bell has been an­nounced as BP’s new head of Trinidad and To­ba­go op­er­a­tions.

In a re­lease on Tues­day bp con­firmed Camp­bell’s ap­point­ment to the role of pres­i­dent of its Trinidad and To­ba­go busi­ness ef­fec­tive Oc­to­ber 1, sub­ject to work per­mit ap­proval.

He will re­place Claire Fitz­patrick who has led bpTT’s op­er­a­tions since 2018. Fitz­patrick, the re­lease ex­plained will be mov­ing to the Unit­ed King­dom to take up a new lead­er­ship role at bp’s Lon­don head­quar­ters.

The com­pa­ny said, “In this role, David will be ac­count­able for the safe de­liv­ery and growth of the busi­ness in Trinidad and To­ba­go. David joins bp Trinidad and To­ba­go (bpTT) hav­ing spent the last 8 years in the po­si­tion of pres­i­dent bp Rus­sia.”

Camp­bell has been em­ployed with bp for 38 years in dif­fer­ent com­mer­cial, op­er­a­tional and tech­ni­cal lead­er­ship roles.

He will take over at a time when the com­pa­ny’s pro­duc­tion has de­clined sig­nif­i­cant­ly falling from 2 bil­lion stan­dard cu­bic per day in 2019 to just over 1 bscf/d in May this year ac­cord­ing to fig­ures from the Min­istry of En­er­gy and En­er­gy in­dus­tries.

BpTT al­so has out­stand­ing ne­go­ti­a­tion for new com­mer­cial agree­ment with the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny for the sup­ply of gas, it has ne­go­ti­a­tions for a new struc­ture for At­lantic LNG and it has var­i­ous projects await­ing sanc­tion­ing from its head of­fice.

The com­pa­ny al­so has not been able to bring on its Cas­sia C project more than 18 months af­ter it was ini­tial­ly ex­pect­ed to start pro­duc­tion.
