Social media sensation Kai Cenat (Kailen Carlo Cenat III) is set to finally make it to T&T later this month, after declaring on his live stream with Jamaican Dancehall King Vybz Kartel (Adidjah Palmer) last week that he would accompany him.

Kartel will headline the One Caribbean Unity Music Festival set for May 31 at the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port-of-Spain.

Cenat had previously stated his intention to accompany Trini-born rapper Nicki Minaj to T&T for Carnival 2025, but when her plans changed, so did his and neither of them attended in March.

Cenat, whose mother is a T&T national, is the third most-followed Twitch streamer with 17 million followers. He is also the most-subscribed Twitch streamer. His live streams have hosted celebrity guests like Chris Brown, Kevin Hart, Nicki Minaj, Offset and others.

Recently, Kartel appeared on Cenat’s platform along with female dancehall artiste Spice and caused quite a stir on the internet attracting more than 100,000 viewers.

During the laid-back interaction, Kartel told Cenat he would be performing in T&T this month.

In response, Cenat declared, “I’m locking it in right now. On May 31, I am going to Trinidad and we gon’ go to a show and we gon’ turn up.

“Everybody in Trinidad—be there. That is going to be a monumental day!”

While Cenat has been familiar with T&T culture from birth and has declared his affiliation during his livestreams, he has not yet brought his celebrity to the country.

Last year flew to Jamaica to experience that country’s Carnival and did a few live streams from Kingston. This year, he stated his intention to come for Trinidad Carnival and his mother, Trisha, did visit but Cenat did not make the trip.

In a social media post with her son, ‘Mama Cenat’ said while she knows he has an affinity to reggae and dancehall music, there is a new generation of soca artistes he should check out.

“We have Lady Lava and we have Trinidad Killa featuring Nicki Minaj and then we have the zessers and ‘dem.” she said. “So I just want to let you know that I need you to come to Trinidad and Tobago and witness the greatest show on earth, and I just want to say, Trinidad and Tobago, he love yuh.”

On March 11, Cenat won Streamer of the Year at the 2023 Streamer Awards and also appeared on Rolling Stone’s list of the 20 Most Influential Creators in 2023.

On December 14, Nicki Minaj appeared on Cenat’s livestream which broke his previous peak viewership record by 40,000 resulting in 348,593 concurrent viewers.

On February 8, during a livestream, Cenat announced that he has officially partnered with Nike stating: “I would like to announce that we are officially a part of the Nike family.”

He became the first streamer to get signed with the company.

On February 17, Cenat won Streamer of the Year again and the Best Just Chatting Streamer. He was also nominated for Best Streamed Event.

Vybz Kartel joins an acclaimed cast of entertainers, including Sizzla Kolanji, Molly, Maaya, Preedy, KMC and others set to perform at the Queen’s Park Savannah for the much-anticipated One Caribbean Unity Music Festival.

Yesterday the festival organisers hosted an official launch party for specially-invited guests, the media and sponsors at the Angostura VIP Suite, Queen’s Park Oval in St Clair.
