Mastercard, the global technology company in the payments industry, set foot in Trinidad and Tobago last year by opening its first office in the country. Immediately after their market launch, Mastercard began to support the local arts and culture including the recently concluded Carnival 2023.
For this year’s carnival, Mastercard supported TRIBE by becoming an Official Partner. TRIBE is one of the largest bands, in what is often described around the world, as The Greatest Show on Earth.
Danielle Dumas, Director of Business Development, explained best at Tribe’s Las Jam when she shared that Mastercard is constantly looking to connect people’s passions with how they pay.
“Our Focus is always placed on creating meaningful connections and driving innovation to help enhance the communities of Trinidad and Tobago by celebrating the culture of the country through traditional music, dance, and theatre.” Dumas added.
That also extends to the country’s most valuable assets, namely, its music, culture, and its stake in the global tourism market.

Throughout Carnival, attendees had the opportunity to partake in a variety of activities and perks, including Mastercard Zones, which were available at pre-carnival events like Blue Range Drinks Inclusive, Blue Range Cooler Fete, and Tribe Ignite. During the week of Carnival, the Mastercard zones located in Bliss, Tribe, and Harts featured lunch areas where guests could recharge their phones at the multiple charging stations provided. Additionally, onsite makeup artists were on hand to give attendees a quick face touch-up. Mastercard also hosted zones at post-carnival events, such as Las Jam.
Additionally, the global technology company in the payments space also hosted surprise pop-up giveaways during carnival week, by activating local influencers who invited participants to engage sharing what was #Priceless to them about carnival through social media for a chance to win tickets and be on the road with Tribe, Bliss, or Harts.

Mastercard seeks to bring new and innovative payment experiences to consumers and this year’s Carnival was just the opportunity to showcase how passionate they are about connecting consumers with their interests and enabling them to do more of what they love. It’s all a part of Mastercard’s mission of bringing families and friends together for memorable moments involving activities such as cuisine, music, and sports.
The plan for the future is to continue to support other genres of music, entertainment, and gastronomy happenings in the country as Mastercard intends to help the people of the nation experience #Priceless Experiences. Mastercard remains committed to using its resources for the betterment of humanity as well. Just last year, the global technology company in the payments space, introduced the Touch Card, to help blind and low-sighted people pay with confidence using touch alone.
