Yara Trinidad Limited and Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited (Tringen) have announced the successful commissioning of three solar electric vehicle (SEV) charging stations at their site.
The companies said in a media release that this initiative speaks to their commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing the use of sustainable energy solutions.
It noted the SEV charging stations are 100 per cent powered by solar energy, underscoring their impetus to reduce their carbon footprint.
“By providing this facility, they hope to encourage employees to embrace environmentally friendly transportation options and make meaningful changes toward a greener future,” the release said.
President of Yara Trinidad, Treveno Stenn Mowassie described this as the first step of many more to come.
“Every great journey starts with that small step, and this launch is our first demonstrated small step towards a great journey to decarbonising our operations at a macro scale,” he said.
President of Tringen, Karlon Batchasingh also noted this not only supports T&T’s future but also promotes a greener climate and atmosphere by reducing carbon footprint and pollution.
Maintenance manager at Yara Trinidad, Ricky Bharat also reiterated that the initiative reinforced the company’s “Culture of Care” in its drive to ensure that Yara and Tringen contribute positively to the environment.
Yara Trinidad Limited is a company associated with Yara, a global fertilizer company.
The Trinidad plant is one of Yara’s smallest ammonia plants.
Tringen is a limited liability company that operates in Savonetta, Trinidad.
It is a joint venture between National Enterprises Ltd and Yara Caribbean Limited.
