Princes Town natives have always taken pride, regardless of their religion, that the two poui trees planted in the 1880s by Queen Victoria's grandsons—Prince Albert and Prince George—have given the name to their community and brings fame to the St Stephen's Anglican Church.
Still standing tall and strong at the entrance of the church, the trees are a significant part of the community's rich heritage.
Father Michael Greenidge said visitors from New York, Canada, Australia, and London would often come to the historical site when they are in Trinidad. He said during the Christmas season the trees are beautifully lit, much to the delight of residents.
