Former Minister of Public Administration Marlene McDonald was placed on bail to the sum of $2 million despite being unable to appear to answer fraud charges in the Port of Spain Magistrates Court this afternoon.
Senior Counsel Pamela Elder made an application for bail as the Port of Spain South MP appeared en absentia as she remains hospitalized at St. Clair Medical.
McDonald faces 7 charges related to fraud and money laundering.
Edgar Zephrine, who faces 28 charges, was placed $1 million bail.
Marlene McDonald common law husband Michael Carew was faces 8 charges, and was placed on $500,000 bail.
Victor McEachrane faces 5 charges and was placed on $400,000 bail.
Wayne Anthony who faces one charge was placed on $100,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to September 9.
