For­mer Min­is­ter of Pub­lic Ad­min­is­tra­tion Mar­lene Mc­Don­ald was placed on bail to the sum of $2 mil­lion de­spite be­ing un­able to ap­pear to an­swer fraud charges in the Port of Spain Mag­is­trates Court this af­ter­noon.

Se­nior Coun­sel Pamela El­der made an ap­pli­ca­tion for bail as the Port of Spain South MP ap­peared en ab­sen­tia as she re­mains hos­pi­tal­ized at St. Clair Med­ical.

Mc­Don­ald faces 7 charges re­lat­ed to fraud and mon­ey laun­der­ing.

Edgar Zephrine, who faces 28 charges, was placed $1 mil­lion bail.

Mar­lene Mc­Don­ald com­mon law hus­band Michael Carew was faces 8 charges, and was placed on $500,000 bail.

Vic­tor McEachrane faces 5 charges and was placed on $400,000 bail.

Wayne An­tho­ny who faces one charge was placed on $100,000 bail.

The mat­ter was ad­journed to Sep­tem­ber 9.
