This country has received 200,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine. The vaccines arrived in the country today at 1:37 pm. Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Amery Browne and His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago, were present for the arrival of the vaccines. Today, Monday 14th June, 2021 Trinidad and Tobago received 200,000 doses of the World Health Organisation (WHO) approved Sinopharm (Beijing Institute of Biological Products Company Ltd.) vaccine.
These vaccines were procured by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago, were present for the arrival of the vaccines, which will be used to provide both first and second doses of the vaccine to members of the public.
The vaccines landed at the Piarco International Airport at 1:37 pm and were transferred to a secured storage facility. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago remains committed to safeguarding the health of the population and will continue to provide safe and effective WHO approved COVID19 vaccines for the population.
