This coun­try has re­ceived 200,000 dos­es of the Sinopharm vac­cine. The vac­cines ar­rived in the coun­try to­day at 1:37 pm. Min­is­ter of Health Ter­rence Deyals­ingh, Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs Amery Browne and His Ex­cel­len­cy Fang Qiu, Am­bas­sador of the Peo­ple’s Re­pub­lic of Chi­na to Trinidad and To­ba­go, were present for the ar­rival of the vac­cines. The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the Min­istry of Health:

To­day, Mon­day 14th June, 2021 Trinidad and To­ba­go re­ceived 200,000 dos­es of the World Health Or­gan­i­sa­tion (WHO) ap­proved Sinopharm (Bei­jing In­sti­tute of Bi­o­log­i­cal Prod­ucts Com­pa­ny Ltd.) vac­cine.

These vac­cines were pro­cured by the Gov­ern­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go. The Ho­n­ourable Ter­rence Deyals­ingh, Min­is­ter of Health, Sen­a­tor the Ho­n­ourable Dr. Amery Browne, Min­is­ter of For­eign and CARI­COM Af­fairs and His Ex­cel­len­cy Fang Qiu, Am­bas­sador of the Peo­ple’s Re­pub­lic of Chi­na to Trinidad and To­ba­go, were present for the ar­rival of the vac­cines, which will be used to pro­vide both first and sec­ond dos­es of the vac­cine to mem­bers of the pub­lic.

The vac­cines land­ed at the Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port at 1:37 pm and were trans­ferred to a se­cured stor­age fa­cil­i­ty. The Gov­ern­ment of Trinidad and To­ba­go re­mains com­mit­ted to safe­guard­ing the health of the pop­u­la­tion and will con­tin­ue to pro­vide safe and ef­fec­tive WHO ap­proved COVID19 vac­cines for the pop­u­la­tion.
