Three suspects were arrested, and three firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics were seized during ongoing anti-crime exercises conducted this week in the Western and Northern Policing Divisions.
In the first exercise, Western Division Task Force officers conducted an exercise in the Northern and Western Divisions, between 12:45 pm and 8 pm, on Wednesday 20 November 2024.
According to a Police Service release, officers received information that led them to the Valsayn district to conduct a search. They had obtained reports that a man was seen allegedly hiding two objects in the vicinity of a mango tree in the area.
The officers’ search led to the discovery of a quantity of cannabis at the location.
Meanwhile, in the West End district, officers of the Western Divisional Gang & Intelligence Unit and the West End Criminal Investigations Department conducted an exercise between 4:10 pm and 6:15 pm, on Thursday 21 November 2024.
During the exercise, officers arrested a 33-year-old suspect of Diego Martin and seized one pistol loaded with a quantity of ammunition.
In the Arima district, officers of the Intelligence and Operations Team conducted an exercise between 1 pm and 4 pm, on Thursday, during which they proceeded to Heights of Guanapo.
Once there, they conducted a search of a bushy area at the back of a house, which led to them finding one pistol loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition, along with one revolver.
Also on Thursday, between 2 pm and 6 pm, Task Force officers conducted an exercise in the Arima district during which quantities of cannabis and cocaine were seized.
They also arrested two suspects for various offences.
Investigations into all of these matters are ongoing.
