A to­tal of 492 po­si­tions will be up for grabs in the Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress’ (UNC) con­stituen­cy ex­ec­u­tive elec­tions due this month.

Con­fir­ma­tion came from the par­ty’s deputy po­lit­i­cal leader David Lee, two days af­ter the UNC an­nounced on its web­site that the par­ty will hold its con­stituen­cy ex­ec­u­tive elec­tions, as well as its woman’s arm and youth arm elec­tions, as it pre­pares for the up­com­ing lo­cal gov­ern­ment and gen­er­al elec­tions.

The con­stituen­cy ex­ec­u­tive elec­tions will be held on two days — June 23 and 30.

Elec­tions for the woman’s arm and youth arm will take place on Ju­ly 7.

Nom­i­na­tion forms for the three elec­tions will be avail­able at the UNC’s head­quar­ters from to­day.

Lee said the con­stituen­cy ex­ec­u­tive elec­tion which is held every two years was over­due by four months.

“Its dead­line ex­pired in Feb­ru­ary,” Lee said.

“So this elec­tion it far over­due.”

Lee made it abun­dant­ly clear that the con­stituen­cy elec­tion is to fill 12 po­si­tions for “each of the 41 con­stituen­cies.”

The po­si­tions range from chair­man to sec­re­tary.

That means that 492 po­si­tions will be up for grabs, Lee said.

“It mir­rors the UNC’s na­tion­al ex­ec­u­tive elec­tions. It’s re­al­ly po­si­tions that will be avail­able. If more than one per­son files for a par­tic­u­lar po­si­tion there would be a con­test.”

Each con­stituen­cy ex­ec­u­tive se­lect­ed, Lee said will help the UNC in­ter­nal­ly for the up­com­ing lo­cal gov­ern­ment and gen­er­al elec­tions.

“They will give us a good foot­ing.”

Lee said screen­ing of its lo­cal gov­ern­ment elec­tions can­di­dates will take place soon.
