Eight more people—three elderly men, one elderly woman, two middle-aged men, and two middle-aged women—have lost their lives to COVID-19, while another 412 people have tested positive for the disease, according to the latest update from the Ministry of Health.
In its update for today, Tuesday 22 February 2022, the Ministry notes five persons had multiple comorbidities, two persons had one comorbidity each, while one person had no known medical conditions. Their deaths have pushed up the national death toll to 3,582 lives lost.
Among the comorbidities present in the deceased were diabetes, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, heart disease, dementia, asthma, schizophrenia, and a history of strokes.
In addition, the 412 new positive cases, based on samples taken between February 17th and 21st, mean that there are now 20,830 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, at this time.
The Ministry also notes that overall, some 124,488 people have had COVID-19 since pandemic tracking began in March 2020, with 100,076 of them having recovered.
