Sev­en peo­ple were ar­rest­ed, and two high-pow­ered ri­fles along with quan­ti­ties of cannabis were seized dur­ing the De­cem­ber 2024 pe­ri­od, as the Tac­ti­cal Sup­port Unit car­ried out sev­er­al Op­er­a­tion BLAST an­ti-crime ex­er­cis­es.

BLAST stands for ‘Bring­ing Land And Sea To­geth­er’.

In a TTPS re­lease, As­sis­tant Com­mis­sion­er of Po­lice (ACP) for Tac­ti­cal Sup­port, Col­lis Hazel, re­ports that Op­er­a­tion BLAST’s modus of util­is­ing “all Branch­es in ex­e­cut­ing tar­get­ed op­er­a­tions un­der each sec­tion leader” has yield­ed re­sults dur­ing the past month.

Ac­cord­ing to ACP Hazel, in De­cem­ber 2024, five op­er­a­tions ex­e­cut­ed by the Guard and Emer­gency Branch, In­ter-Agency Task Force, Na­tion­al Op­er­a­tional Task Force, CA­SU and ERP/E999, re­sult­ed in sev­en ar­rests, along with the seizure of:

● One AK-47 ri­fle with 28 rounds of am­mu­ni­tion

● One AR-15 ri­fle

● 1.2 kilo­grammes of cannabis

In ad­di­tion, the TTPS re­lease not­ed that some 581 Stop and Search ex­er­cis­es were con­duct­ed, and 329 tick­ets is­sued.
