Seven people were arrested, and two high-powered rifles along with quantities of cannabis were seized during the December 2024 period, as the Tactical Support Unit carried out several Operation BLAST anti-crime exercises.
BLAST stands for ‘Bringing Land And Sea Together’.
In a TTPS release, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for Tactical Support, Collis Hazel, reports that Operation BLAST’s modus of utilising “all Branches in executing targeted operations under each section leader” has yielded results during the past month.
According to ACP Hazel, in December 2024, five operations executed by the Guard and Emergency Branch, Inter-Agency Task Force, National Operational Task Force, CASU and ERP/E999, resulted in seven arrests, along with the seizure of:
● One AK-47 rifle with 28 rounds of ammunition
● One AR-15 rifle
● 1.2 kilogrammes of cannabis
In addition, the TTPS release noted that some 581 Stop and Search exercises were conducted, and 329 tickets issued.
