The Min­istry of Works and Trans­port is ad­vis­ing the pub­lic that the North Coast Road is cur­rent­ly open for sin­gle-lane traf­fic.

Part of the road col­lapsed last Fri­day, dur­ing heavy rains cut­ting off com­mu­ni­ties in the area.

The high­ways di­vi­sion con­duct­ed ex­ten­sive work over the week­end to sta­bilise the land­slip and road­way.

The Min­istry of Works said al­though in­ter­im works were com­plet­ed yes­ter­day, “the tech­ni­cal and in­fra­struc­tur­al sur­veys are on­go­ing to de­vel­op a so­lu­tion to ad­dress the cur­rent land­slips with the aim of restor­ing full con­nec­tiv­i­ty.”

The min­istry has called on mem­bers of the gen­er­al pub­lic to ex­er­cise ex­treme cau­tion when tra­vers­ing the North Coast Road.

The Min­istry of Works and Trans­port al­so apol­o­gised for any in­con­ve­nience caused and al­so thanked the pub­lic for its pa­tience and con­tin­ued co­op­er­a­tion.
