All Trinidad General and Massy Motors Leasing settle for 8% over 3 years

The All Trinidad Gen­er­al Work­ers’ Trade Union is con­firm­ing that it has man­aged to se­cure an 8% wage in­crease for week­ly paid work­ers at Massy Mo­tors Leas­ing, to cov­er the 2019 to 2022 pe­ri­od.

Ac­cord­ing to a re­lease is­sued by the union’s Gen­er­al Sec­re­tary, Ra­jin­dra Mo­han:

“The All Trinidad Gen­er­al Work­ers’ Trade Union has suc­cess­ful­ly ne­go­ti­at­ed and signed on May 26, 2022 a new three year Col­lec­tive Agree­ment for the hourly rat­ed week­ly paid em­ploy­ees of Massy Mo­tors Leas­ing—A Di­vi­sion of Massy Mo­tors Ltd.—which has re­al­ized an eight per­cent wage in­crease on their be­half.”

The union re­ports that the Agree­ment cov­ers the pe­ri­od Sep­tem­ber 16, 2019 to Sep­tem­ber 15, 2022.  For the first year, work­ers will see a 3% in­crease; for the sec­ond, a 2% in­crease; and for the third, a 2% in­crease.

“The Union al­so aug­ment­ed im­prove­ments in oth­er Terms and Con­di­tions of Em­ploy­ment such as Pa­ter­ni­ty Leave, Meal and oth­er al­lowances and ben­e­fits,” Gen­er­al Sec­re­tary Mo­han con­firmed.

He added: “The Union wish­es to ex­tend its ap­pre­ci­a­tion to of­fi­cials of Massy Mo­tors Leas­ing for the cor­dial and har­mo­nious re­la­tions, which ex­ist­ed dur­ing the con­duct of the said ne­go­ti­a­tions and of which both par­ties were ex­treme­ly pleased with the out­come.”

The Union’s ne­go­ti­at­ing team was led by Kavi­ta Ram­lochan, Se­nior Labour Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer; along with Hazel Ryan and Sunil Ram­narace, Of­fi­cers of the Branch.

The Com­pa­ny’s team was led by Derek Fer­nan­des, Se­nior Man­ag­er, Leas­ing; and Nirisa Al­low, Hu­man Re­source Man­ag­er.
