Po­lice re­cov­ered am­mu­ni­tion in Diego Mar­tin and seized a firearm in Mal­oney dur­ing two in­tel­li­gence-led op­er­a­tions this week.

In the first in­ci­dent, of­fi­cers at­tached to the West End Po­lice Sta­tion searched a bushy area along Up­per Cadet Hill, Diego Mar­tin, be­tween 8 p.m. and mid­night on Thurs­day 15 May. They re­cov­ered a Sig Sauer mag­a­zine loaded with fif­teen rounds of 9mm am­mu­ni­tion. The am­mu­ni­tion had been re­port­ed miss­ing dur­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise ear­li­er in the week.

The op­er­a­tion, which was in­ci­dent-free, was sanc­tioned by se­nior of­fi­cers and car­ried out by West End Po­lice.

Mean­while, in Mal­oney, a Joint Search War­rant Ex­er­cise be­tween 3 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Fri­day 16 May led to the ar­rest of three men and the seizure of a re­volver. Po­lice first ex­e­cut­ed a war­rant at Build­ing 6, where two sus­pects were held. Act­ing on fur­ther in­tel­li­gence, of­fi­cers searched the east­ern stair­well and found a cam­ou­flage bag con­tain­ing a re­volver, two walkie-talkies, and a charg­er. A third man was lat­er ar­rest­ed at Build­ing 9.

That op­er­a­tion in­volved mul­ti­ple spe­cialised units and was co­or­di­nat­ed by se­nior of­fi­cers in the North­ern Di­vi­sion.
