An armed robber wearing a dark-coloured hoodie accosted a barber as he sat outside a restaurant in San Fernando on Wednesday night.

All Glenrick Flanders had in his possession at the time was the modest sum of $170 and his cellphone valued at $600.

He told police that around 7 pm, he parked his white Nissan Tiida along Prince Charles Street, San Fernando near Atherly's Bar and remained sitting in the driver's seat.

Suddenly, the hooded criminal dressed in all black shoved a gun through the window and ordered Flanders out. The robber demanded the keys to the vehicle. He then forced Flanders to lie face down on the road before rummaging through his pockets and stealing his valuables.

Before anyone could stop him, the thief swiftly jumped in Flanders' car and drove off, heading eastward.

Fortunately, Flanders had installed a GPS tracking system in his vehicle, allowing him to remotely disable it. He alerted the police who recovered the car in the vicinity of Mahogany Avenue Pleasantville. It was taken to the San Fernando Police Station.

A party of officers led by PC Ali interviewed people and received information. Although the search is ongoing, law enforcement officials remain optimistic about bringing the perpetrator to justice.

Police are now appealing to anyone with relevant information regarding the robbery or the identity of the suspect to come forward and assist in the apprehension of the individual responsible.
