Po­lice yes­ter­day iden­ti­fied the man who was shot dead at the en­trance of the Beetham land­fill as an ex-con­vict who had been re­leased from prison one day be­fore he was killed.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors said the vic­tim, Nathaniel Thomas, 32, of Hell Yard, Beetham Gar­dens had been re­port­ed miss­ing on Wednes­day.

Thomas was shot and killed ear­ly on Tues­day and as po­lice cor­doned off the scene search­ing for clues traf­fic backed up as far as Freeport, in Cen­tral and Mau­si­ca, in the East for hours.

Po­lice said Thomas was re­leased from prison on Mon­day af­ter serv­ing a two-year sen­tence for house-break­ing and lar­ce­ny.

They said had sev­er­al con­vic­tions for house-break­ing. Thomas’ body was found at the en­trance of the Beetham Land­fill around 4 am.

Beetham res­i­dents told the T&T Guardian that Thomas was chased by gun­men who mur­dered him near the dump.
