A 72-year-old woman was stabbed to death at her home in Brazil Village early Saturday morning, in a murder that comes on the heels of another suspected domestic killing on Thursday night.

Police said Elizabeth Etienne called a relative around 6.20 am and asked him to come to her home urgently, but did not give details. When the relative arrived, he found Etienne’s 28-year-old son standing outside, covered in blood.

Inside, Etienne was discovered dead with stab wounds to her chest, arm, and neck. Officers from the San Raphael Police Station and a district medical officer responded and pronounced her dead at the scene. Her son was arrested and is assisting Region II Homicide Investigators.

On Thursday night, 75-year-old Peter Banfield was found dead in the kitchen of his Flanagin Town home, his body lying in a pool of blood.

Banfield’s sister told police she became concerned after her son, Christopher Banfield, who is mentally ill, showed up at her house acting suspiciously and she couldn’t reach her brother by phone. She alerted a relative, who went to the house at LP #14 Mamoral Road and discovered Banfield's body with injuries to his head and face.

Brasso police secured the scene, processed evidence and bagged the deceased’s hands for testing. Investigators were told that around 7.30 p.m., Christopher admitted to having an altercation with his father and said he left him in the kitchen.

Police arrested Christopher Banfield and took him to the Chaguanas Health Facility, where he was treated and discharged. He remains in custody.
