Students at the Belmont Secondary School are back out, after staying away for a week.
On Friday, May 5, two masked gunmen entered the compound and accosted a safety officer.
It is believed the men got into the school through a broken fence.
And at least twice last week, parents protested outside the school calling for the fence to be repaired. They kept their children away from classes as well.
This morning, president of the school’s PTA, Shurlanda Malcolm, confirmed that the fence was repaired and that children are back out to school.

“Gates have been put to block off entry at open points in the drain,” she told Guardian Media.
“Also, the Farm fencing with security breaches has been replaced with new fencing. In addition, all toilets for both male and female students have been replaced,” she said.
Shurlanda Malcolm added that some are still sceptical about sending their children, however, so they are waiting until the end of this week to see how things pan out.
The PTA president and other parents expressed gratitude to the Minister of Education, Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, for acting on their concerns so quickly.
