A Sangre Grande man is expected to appear virtually before a Magistrate today charged with the murder of his brother, Kendall Williams.
According to the police Malick Williams, 25 of El Carmen Street, Foster Road, was charged with the offence following advice received from Acting Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Joan Honore-Paul, on Monday.
Kendall Williams, 26, aka ‘Bushman’, also of Foster Road, Sangre Grande, was at his home on Sunday March 21, when he observed two male relatives, one of them armed with a gun, having a heated argument. As Williams approached the men, the gunman ran towards him and fired several shots in his direction. Williams ran off and he was pursued by the gunman who continued shooting at him. He was hit and died at the scene, while the male relative ran off.
The accused was arrested shortly after by officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station while in a car.
Investigations were supervised by ASP Douglas of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, (HBI) Region 2, while WILLIAMS was charged by PC James, also of HBI Region 2, on Monday.
Meanwhile, a wanted for murder was arrested Monday evening by officers of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT) headed by Inspector Mark Hernandez.
The SORT team detained the suspect who is wanted for questioning in connection with the murder of Nicholas Mohit which occurred at his place of business on March 11 at the Eastern Main Road, Arouca.
Police say around 7:36 pm Monday SORT personnel were on patrol in a marked police vehicle when they went to Racetrack Road, Carapo, Arima, in the vicinity of Al Islamia Jammah Mosque.
At that location, the police officers observed the suspect standing outside the mosque. The officers approached him, informing him of the report of murder being investigated.
Police also seized one Apple iPhone 8 from the suspect, who lives at Sherwood Park, Arima. The suspect was taken to the Tunapuna Police Station where he is detained.
