Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley may be speaking ahead about Cabinet’s recently-concluded two-day retreat.

This was hinted yesterday by Government sources.

The retreat for Government members which began on Tuesday finished around 6 pm that day and yesterday’s final leg was ongoing yesterday evening.

Ministers and other officials were expected to speak on the “deliverables” in their Ministries, detailing plans for Government’s path ahead.

Yesterday Communication Minister Symon de Nobrega didn’t reply to queries on decisions, outcomes or other developments - including if a reshuffle would occur as some have speculated.

It’s uncertain if Rowley would hold a media briefing after today’s Cabinet meeting or if he would speak about the retreat at a public meeting that the PNM is scheduled to hold on Saturday afternoon.

Rowley is also scheduled to speak tomorrow morning in Parliament to pilot a bill on whistleblower law.

This seeks to “combat corruption and other wrongdoings by encouraging and facilitating disclosures of improper conduct in the public and private sector, to protect persons making those disclosures from detrimental action, to regulate the receiving, investigating or otherwise dealing with disclosure of improper conduct and to provide for other matters connected therewith.”

On the agenda last Friday, National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds was listed to pilot the bill. But the latest agenda showed it will be piloted by the PM.

The Opposition has signalled it will raise whistleblower issues concerning certain state companies when the debate takes place.
