Residents and small business operators at Orange Field Road, Carapichaima, say their patience with the Water and Sewerage Authority has almost drained.
Sacha Mohammed, spokesperson for the community who also operates a food business, told Guardian Media recent pipe laying operations by WASA started creating a massive dust problem in the area.
Mohammed said not only are businesses affected but also the health of many villagers, who have to now find money for medication to treat their breathing problems.
The community spokesperson also observed that the pipe laying project appears to have been abandoned since no work has been done for the last three weeks.
Guardian Media reached out to Wendell Etienne of WASA’s Corporate Communications Unit, who gave assurances the project has not been abandoned.
“There was some difficulty acquiring materials over the holiday season,” he reported.
The WASA official assured: “This has since been resolved.”
