Arrive Alive would be strategically placed at all the Carnival events sponsored by Carib Brewery Ltd to ensure that patrons do not leave intoxicated. Sponsorship and events manager of Carib, Colin Murray, said so yesterday at the company's head office in Champs Fleurs during the official announcement Carib's sponsorship of Woodbrook Playboyz Steel Orchestra. Murray said in an effort to ensure that patrons acted responsibly, Carib had teamed up with Arrive Alive to be present at all the company's sponsored Carnival events.
"Arrive Alive would be at all the Carnival events and at the end of the event there would be sober zones where the public can be tested with the breathalyser to ensure that people were not leaving drunk," he said. He said Carib would also try to access taxi services but urged that every group or person should have a designated driver. However, he said the public can look forward to various promotions throughout the season and through the year. Managing director of Carib Brewery, Derek Waddell, also announced that the company was now the new sponsor of Woodbrook Playboyz steel Orchestra after five years of sponsorship from Angostura.
Waddell said being one of T&T's most active and long-standing corporate sponsors, especially when it came to T&T culture and Carnival, the company saw the need and the opportunity to support the steelband fraternity. He said the company felt that T&T had embraced all of its brand, especially the flagship brand, Carib beer, so it was their way of giving back to the nation by continuing to support the local art form. He said the sponsorship contractual agreement was for three years, but hoped that they would have a long and successful alliance.
