Caribbean Airlines warns of scam circulating in WhatsApp

Caribbean Air­lines is warn­ing of a scam be­ing per­pe­trat­ed in its name, in the form of a fraud­u­lent com­pe­ti­tion, which is cur­rent­ly cir­cu­lat­ing in What­sApp.

The air­line is­sued a state­ment in which it dis­as­so­ci­ates it­self from what it says is “a po­ten­tial phish­ing scam”.  It is urg­ing those in re­ceipt of the What­sApp mes­sage to delete it.

The fol­low­ing is the full text of the state­ment is­sued by Caribbean Air­lines, on the mat­ter…

“It has come to our at­ten­tion that per­sons have been re­ceiv­ing a for­ward­ed mes­sage via What­sApp prompt­ing them to click on a link for a ran­dom gift event.

This com­pe­ti­tion is fraud­u­lent and is not sanc­tioned by, nor af­fil­i­at­ed in any way what­so­ev­er with, Caribbean Air­lines Lim­it­ed.

The mes­sage in ques­tion is a po­ten­tial phish­ing scam and cus­tomers are ad­vised to please delete it.”
