Cancun, Mexico (Melé Destinations) — Cancun Carnival started off with a bang on Day 2 with a sweaty dancercise session led by Monk Dancers Michelle Bambai, Shaakir Griffith and Nandi Yard.

Guests enjoyed bringing in their day with dance—bootcamp workout style—to the sweet sounds of soca from up the isles.

Simultaneously, lovers of golf got the chance to participate in Melé’s 1st ever Golf Tournament, 9-holes of fun along the Moon Palace Golf Course. And football lovers weren't left out as, at the same time, Melé’s 1st ever football competition kicked off, on the beach.

Later, guests met in the massive pool at Sunrise, Moon Palace for Hydrate Foam, a foam party sponsored by Carib Beer.  At night, the close to 3,000 attendees met at Dune Beach for Ignite: Glow, a neon-themed event, sponsored by Angostura White Oak Rum. There, they got to see Destra Garcia, Skinny Fabulous, Lyrikal and King of the Dancehall Beenie Man grace the stage, with a surprise appearance by Soca King Machel Montano during Beenie's set.

About Melé

Melé is a collaboration between Trinidad & Tobago Mas behemoth TRIBE Carnival and Soca Legend Machel Montano.

The partnership began as a venture on the high seas—a luxury 5-day, 4-night cruise, scheduled to set sail in 2021. With an overwhelmingly positive response from soca and Carnival lovers alike, just as the cruise was nearing sold out status, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and altered plans.

The cruise was rescheduled for 2022. However, after careful consideration of global perspectives of COVID-19, the partners decided to shift gears and instead, offer an on-land, all-inclusive event—the 1st Melé Destinations—while the cruise industry makes the necessary adjustments to determine its new normal.

The 1st Melé Destination is Cancun, Mexico, to be hosted at the Moon Palace Resort from April 28 to May 2nd, 2022.
