Lovers of Tra­di­tion­al mas were treat­ed on Car­ni­val Mon­day night, when the Ch­agua­nas Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee staged its Tra­di­tion­al Mas show­case at Ram­saran Street, Ch­agua­nas.

Chair­man of the Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee Or­lan­do Nages­sar said the event was not a com­pe­ti­tion and per­sons who ap­peared would be paid an ap­pear­ance fee.

He said the ob­jec­tive of the event was to re­ju­ve­nate an in­ter­est in tra­di­tion­al mas char­ac­ters and give ex­po­sure to youth play­ing tra­di­tion­al mas.

At the show­case sev­er­al in­di­vid­u­als and two tra­di­tion­al bands took part.

Car­ol and Fam­i­ly Bring Back Tra­di­tions fea­tured Mid­night Rob­bers, the La Di­a­b­lesse or La Jab­less, Pier­rot Grenade and Dame Lor­raines.

The En­ter­prise Po­lice Youth Club brought on a band of coloured and black Bats much to the de­light of the au­di­ence.

Al­so ap­pear­ing was the small pan side Pan An­gels out of En­ter­prise.
