Standard four pupil Tashia Thomas was looking forward to the first day of school yesterday.
However, she was left disappointed because classes were called off after teachers heeded the call by their union, the T&T Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA), to "rest and reflect" on Monday 5 September 2022.
“I wanted to see my new classroom, but today I’m getting to see my new classroom and I’m getting to see my classmates and the same teachers I had before,” she shared with Guardian Media, just before entering St. Patrick’s Newtown Girls RC School.
Things returned to normal for schools today, Tuesday, September 6.
“As far as we know, everything should be back to normal from today," Nerissa Kanchan told Guardian Media as she dropped off her son at Richmond Street Boys’ Anglican School.
Many other parents were also confident of things going back to normal today, when dropping off their children at their schools on the first day of classes, after yesterday's disruptions across the country.
