Students attending the Palmiste Government School may get some relief when the new term starts. The school was completely gutted on December 7 when a fire destroyed the entire building. On Monday Ministry of Education officials along with Ryan Rampersad, the Chairman of the Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation, viewed the Todds Road Community Centre as a temporary alternative.
Rampersad said Junior Francis, the president of the Todds Road Village Council, would be calling an emergency meeting of the council to get approval to host the school. He said the CTTRC would also be holding a special meeting to demolish the old school in the shortest possible time.
