Stu­dents at­tend­ing the Palmiste Gov­ern­ment School may get some re­lief when the new term starts. The school was com­plete­ly gut­ted on De­cem­ber 7 when a fire de­stroyed the en­tire build­ing. On Mon­day Min­istry of Ed­u­ca­tion of­fi­cials along with Ryan Ram­per­sad, the Chair­man of the Cou­va/Tabaquite/Tal­paro Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion, viewed the Todds Road Com­mu­ni­ty Cen­tre as a tem­po­rary al­ter­na­tive.

Ram­per­sad said Ju­nior Fran­cis, the pres­i­dent of the Todds Road Vil­lage Coun­cil, would be call­ing an emer­gency meet­ing of the coun­cil to get ap­proval to host the school. He said the CT­TRC would al­so be hold­ing a spe­cial meet­ing to de­mol­ish the old school in the short­est pos­si­ble time.
