A police officer was shot dead at a bar in Carapo Village, south of Arima, around 3 pm on Sunday.
The officer identified as PC Kyrston Ramirez was assigned to the Guard and Emergency Branch, based in Aranguez.
Early reports suggest that a gunman walked into Classy Bar and shot Ramirez in the head as he was playing a game of roulette.
Scores of officers responded including Ramirez's colleagues. The killing has pushed the murder toll to 509. This is one of three murders which occurred over the weekend.
