Eastern Division police say they have arrested a suspect in connection with a report of larceny from the person that occurred on last Thursday.
A statement from the Police Service says on November 3, 2024, PC Delpino and a team of officers from the Eastern Division Task Force, responded to a report of a disturbance in the vicinity of the Sangre Grande Police Station.
At the scene, they encountered a 22-year-old labourer who pointed out a man whom he alleged had stolen a gold-coloured chain from him.
According to reports, at approximately 8:00 PM on October 31, 2024, the alleged victim was at the corner of Cruickshank Street and Picton Road in Sangre Grande when a man approached him and snatched the chain—valued at $2,500—from around his neck.
The victim gave chase but was unable to catch the suspect, who managed to escape.
Investigations were conducted and the officers arrested a 33-yearold man from Waterloo Road, Carapichaima in connection with the incident.
Enquiries are ongoing.
