Enquiries are continuing into the purported kidnapping of an elderly man from his Maraval home on Saturday evening.
Police said the 84-year-old man walked outside of his Perseverance Road, Maraval, home, around 6 pm on Saturday to throw away garbage when he was confronted by three men, one of whom had a gun.
The attackers pushed the man in his silver Nissan Wagon and drove off with him.
The elderly man told police he went unconscious and woke up hours later to realise he was still in his vehicle which was parked in a bushy area on Sar Sar Trace, Manuel Congo, Arima, with none of the attackers around.
The man tried to drive out of the area but realised the wheels of the car were stuck in the mud.
He later called on nearby residents for help, who in turn called the Arima Police.
Officers took the elderly man for a medical examination.
Investigators said no valuables were taken from the elderly man including his wallet and bank cards, which they found strange.
Officers of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are continuing enquiries.
