Crime Stoppers T&T is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of missing Felicity resident Komal Maharaj.
That was revealed during a police anti-crime meeting on Tuesday night at the Avidesh Samaroo Recreation Ground, Endeavour.
Maharaj was last seen on July 19 at Price Plaza, Chaguanas around 2 pm.
During the meeting, which focused largely on home invasions in communities in central Trinidad, Crime Stoppers director Darren Carmichael announced the reward. Police said they were probing Maharaj’s disappearance as that of a missing persons report but also a kidnapping.
Carmichael urged residents to work together to stem the tide of crime in the area.
“People are coming after you, criminals have no intention of working an honest day in their life and we are the targets, don’t mix matters, we are the targets, some of us actually walk around with a sign on our backs that say ‘rob me’,” he said.
Meanwhile, ASP Ramdhanie Dipchan of the Central Division Police said officers are placing resources into home invasion hotspots. He said home invasions are on the front burner and assured the police have not put their hands into the air and given up.
“The Central Division has relocated resources from different areas and attempted to put those resources in areas that have been identified as hotspots where home invasions are concerned. Endeavour is one of those areas. The CID in Chaguanas has been mandated to perform a patrol in Endeavour from a certain time,” Dipchan said.
