Attorney-at-law, Alvin Pascall has been reappointed to serve as Chairman of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB) for a three-year period with effect from March 22, 2023. Pascall currently holds the position of Head of the Legal Department at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, having served as Legal Advisor for several Ministries of Government.
According to the National Security Ministry, the CICB Chairman will be supported by the Board Members who have been appointed for a three-year period also with effect from March 22, 2023: Dr. Suresh Moonan, Medical Practitioner; Ms. Sasha Franklin-Wilson, Attorney-at-law; Ms. Kimoy Thomas-Williams, Attorney-at-law; Mr. Swanye-Leo Hosein-Cadogan, Forensic Psychologist; Mr. Wendell Jones, Acting Supervisor III, Social Welfare Division, Representative from Ministry of Social Development and Family Services; and Mr. William Nurse, Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Representative of the Tobago House of Assembly.
The CICB was established in 2006 to provide compensation to persons or dependents of persons who have suffered injury as a direct result of violent crime as defined in the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 21 of 1999. The Board has the mandate to evaluate and determine applications for compensation of victims or their dependents as provided for in the Act.
