The Member of Parliament for Cumuto/Manzanilla has added his voice to those condemning the desecration of the Bharatiya Vidya Abhyas Mandali temple in Curepe on Wednesday.

In an official statement issued today, Dr. Rai Ragbir MP was hopeful that those responsible for “this horrendous act” will be brought to justice by the authorities.

He made the observation that, “There are no more safe places left in T&T for citizens”, and he lamented this latest attack on a place of worship.

“As a Christian, I empathise with the devotees of the Bharatiya Vidya Abhyas Mandali on the vandalism of their mandir,” Dr Ragbir stated. “I can only imagine the pain that they must feel to see their holy place of worship desecrated in such a vile manner.”

Pointing to the current crime situation in the country, the Cumuto/Manzanilla MP asserted that the country “has already lost its sense of safety and security.”

“It would be an absolute tragedy if we were to lose the invaluable cohesiveness and mutual respect that binds our multicultural nation together,” he said.

He added: “I pray that one day soon, our citizens will once again be able to enjoy peace and security in their homes, communities, workplaces, schools and places of worship.”
