A sto­ic Earl Pe­ters Sr yes­ter­day blamed his son’s mur­der in Cunu­pia on Sun­day on his de­ci­sion to be in the “wrong com­pa­ny.”

“He was fix­ing a car for the wrong peo­ple and had gone to drop it back,” he added.

Earl Pe­ters Jr, 35, a me­chan­ic of Sa­van­nah Road, Diego Mar­tin, was one of three men gunned down in the park­ing lot of Piz­za Boys, Cunu­pia, around mid­day.

The oth­er vic­tims in­clud­ed Coast Guard of­fi­cer Dave Lyons, 24; and Jah-Mar­ley God­dard, 22—both of Sea Trace, Bagatelle, Diego Mar­tin.

Weep­ing as he left the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, af­ter iden­ti­fy­ing his son’s body, Pe­ters Sr said, “He was a re­al lov­ing child. I don’t know how he got caught up in this.”

He said the fa­ther of a six-year-old daugh­ter had got­ten in­volved with the “wrong com­pa­ny. He fix­ing car for them and that’s it, he went to drop it for the man,” Pe­ter Sr said, re­fer­ring to God­dard.

The fa­ther re­vealed, “He drop the car and like he car­ry the man to buy some­thing to eat, and that was it.”

Pe­ters Jr op­er­at­ed his garage out of his fa­ther’s house.

He said he had spo­ken to his son short­ly be­fore he left the house.

“He called me in the morn­ing and told me what he was go­ing and do, to drop off some car ... sim­ple.”

The fa­ther said Pe­ters Jr was hard-work­ing and com­mit­ted to his pro­fes­sion, but had been warned re­peat­ed­ly by peo­ple in the com­mu­ni­ty about his choice of clients. But Pe­ters Sr said it was a warn­ing his son ig­nored.

“Peo­ple telling you don’t work for that man, don’t fix his car, don’t do it, but like is a joke for you.”

Sun­day’s triple mur­der rocked the Cen­tral Di­vi­sion and sent fresh waves of fear among res­i­dents of the South­ern Main Road, Cunu­pia.

A to­tal of 24 spent 9mm shell cas­ings were found at the crime scene.
